The Heart of Networking
Let's Talk About The Music wants to take this time to honor the men and women in the military services worldwide. As of 2020, the World Bank reported that there were 27,406,000 armed forces personnel around the world, including 1,395,000 United States active duty military and paramilitary forces. According to GlobalFirepower.com, as of 2024 the USA ranks first out of 145 Military Strength Rankings, followed by Russia and China; Australia comes in at #16.
This episode will be honoring the musicians who serve in the military. However, the conversation took an interesting learning curve towards the end.
Now, Let Me Introduce My Guest Co-hosts:
Here in the PNW, we know Austin and Grace from the alternative emo band Prickly Paranoia. Austin plays the base while his wife Grace (whom he met in the military) plays lead guitar and sings. They perform while also serving as active duty military personnel! Austin is a Veteran Specialist in the National Guard and Grace is an Army Captain, Logistics Branch.
Tony Schmidt is from the Aussie-based band Gen2, currently signed with Golden Robot Records. Established in 2016 in Melbourne, Australia, guitarist and vocalist Tony wished to found a band that mingled the best of old and new music. He has family in the military as well, but he prefers to keep their journey private. We respect his choice and appreciate his willingness to share his own experiences.
