Jen Majura and Travis Larson
A Little History of Both Amazing Musicians
Jen Majura is a sexy, outgoing, female metal rock star from Germany. She was the rhythm guitarist for Evanescence from 2015- 2022, after which she left the band to pursue her own projects. During Covid, she created “1min jammms” on YouTube. (See channel on the side panel.) She is currently touring with Travis Larson, but before we talk about the Guitar Clinic tour…. Let’s get to know Travis Larson.
Travis Larson has been rockin’ since 1998 with his Travis Larson Band. He has released eight studio albums with his bandmates, Jennifer Young and Dale Moon. The trio was on tour before the pandemic. (See information on the side panel.) Currently, he is on the road with his good friend Jen Majura as “An Evening with Jen Majura and Travis Larson – Guitar Clinic.”
Touring Around the U.S.A
These two have been to eight different locales in California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada before hitting the great Pacific Northwest. Their first stop (which I almost forgot about—thanks, Facebook, for the reminder!) was at the Ted Brown Music Center, followed by Real Art Tacoma in Tacoma, WA, and finally at Club Hektic in Lynnwood, WA. They are heading to Margate and Miami in Florida, then Billings, MT, and Sheridan, WY. I am not sure if they are going to list all of their tour dates, but you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram. I will have the social media information on the side panel.
Meeting the Musicians
The friendship between Jen and Travis brings comedy and a warm affectionate feeling to each of their shows. When Raymond Hyden from Maurice the Fish Records introduced me to them, I was a little bit nervous because these two are big rock stars. However, Jen wrapped me in a strong, caring, and welcoming hug. Travis’s friendly smile and humble personality are something you just don’t expect with someone so talented. They both presented themselves as lovely people to be around—they were just awesome! By the way, Travis is a bit of a Starsky & Hutch fan; in Jen’s vlog, he was very excited about driving past the original S&H police station.
Showtime Shenanigans
During their show, Travis and Jen incorporate a “random jam list” which includes the audience. Here’s how it works: They choose one lucky person who picks a number from one through ten, and they jam to a song corresponding to that number from a preset playlist. I suggest choosing something other than four or eight from the list if you are looking for a fast beat. I was there for number eight, more of a slow song but still interesting at the same time. I am unsure who created this “random jam list” but it was outstanding. I have viewed some of Jen’s vlogs of their tour, and it looks like they have allowed other musicians to jam with them on stage. How cool is that? Jen also creates a painting at each show and then auctions it off to the highest bidder.
If you want to see how much fun they are having on this tour, Jen vlogs the whole thing and you can check it out on her official YouTube channel. You can also find her “1min jammms” that she did during the Covid shut down three years ago.
I am not sure if they are planning to add more dates to their tour after Sheridan, WY, but you can visit Jen Mejura's Linktree landing page or the Travis Larson Band website for more information.
